Ask your books a question. Get a real answer.
Ledger is an AI agent built into Bookkeep AI. It reads your posted transactions, journals, anomalies, and close checklists — across every client and every month — and answers in plain English.
Things firms ask Ledger every day
How Ledger is different from a chatbot
Reads your real ledger
Ledger queries the same posted transactions, journal entries, and close checklists your team works in — not a copied export.
Works across every month
Ask about last quarter, last year, or a month-over-month comparison. Ledger is not limited to the current period.
Finds the messy 6%
Uncategorized transactions, anomalies, and outliers surface as a list you can act on, with the client and amount attached.
Scoped to your firm
Ledger only sees the clients in your workspace. Nothing crosses firm boundaries, and every answer links back to the source records.
Ledger FAQ
How does Ledger find uncategorized transactions?
A transaction is uncategorized when it is still in the pending review state — imported from a bank feed or file, but not yet approved to an account. Ledger counts exactly those rows, per client and per period. You can verify the same list in the Review Inbox, filtered to Pending.
What does “open anomalies” mean?
Anomalies are flags the system raises during import and review: likely duplicates, unusual amounts for a vendor, and transactions that break an established pattern. An anomaly is open until someone resolves or dismisses it. Ledger reports open anomalies only, so a number of zero means nothing is waiting on you.
Where can I verify what Ledger tells me?
Every answer maps to a screen. Uncategorized counts live in the Review Inbox, anomalies live in the Anomalies panel on the client workspace, totals live in Reports, and close status lives in the Monthly Close tracker.
Can Ledger change my books?
Ledger reads and reports. Posting entries, approving categorizations, and resolving anomalies stay in your hands in the app, so nothing is written to the ledger without a person approving it.
